1st Place Long Jump

     Placed 1st in the boys Long Jump for Citrus Springs Middle School at it's first Track Meet against three other schools including Lecanto Middle, Seven Rivers Christian and The Villages with the record jump of 16ft 3 inchs! 

LAST SEASON GAME

     Well this game marks the end of the regular season soccer games as our team played our teams local rival team Citrus United.  The boys like to add excitement to the game by drawing it out to the second half of the game as the score at half time was 0-0. However the coach had different plans and had some wise words at the half because the team changed it up the second half by scoring goals one after one. Austin had the third goal! His normal position is center defender, so his role this year is more towards the low scores of goals against the team.  (I wish I had it on video but the batteries didn't last.) Ending the game with a 5-0 Victory and a 13-1 season record. 64 goals scored this season / 8 goals scored against us.

     Our tournament games are coming up and we get the chance to play Citrus United again. Wish us luck. These games will be played on Feb 23 and 24th. Sorry this post was way behind but I have been working everyday to ensure that I have these up coming games off!

Birthday Game & Party

     Not much to tell about the today's game as the team took on the Hernando Heat. Our boys opened it up right from the beginning and  taking the game by controlling the ball and the score board in the end the score was 6-0 and another Victory. 

     To add to the game today we had a bigger crowd than we have had as we had extended families from out of town for three of our players.

     After the game we had a good turn out for Austin's Birthday Party including some of the girls soccer team and other Nature Coast Competitive Soccer teams and coaches.

Houston Dynamo's

     This week the team traveled to Valrico to face the Houston Dynamo's.  Due to my work schedule here again I had to miss this game however I sent my best reporter aka the wife, to watch and report back to me. 

     According to her report our team scored the first goal about 15 minutes into the match followed by a second goal that was called back due to a throw in by the wrong team? The throw in was redone incorrectly by the correct team so the throw in again went to our team with the same result of another goal leading them to the score 2-0. Just before the half our team had another shot which most everybody except the refs say went into the goal. (The keeper caught the ball behind the goal line) So the ball has crossed the goal line 4 times in the first half but the score was at half time 2-0.

     Shortly after the start of the second half our team scored another goal 3-0. Afterwards the Houston Dynamo's caught us slacking off a bit and managed to get the ball down field and draw a penalty in the box, resulting in a penalty kick score 3-1. 

     After that score our team came back and ran the game by controlling the ball and yet another goal for the final score 4-1 Victory over the Houston Dynamo's. 

BYE WEEK -- U16 BOYS vs U14 BOYS

     With the forfeit of the Tarpon team that gave us a bye week this week and the coaches and club staff planned to use the refs for a game the Nature Coast U14 vs Nature Coast U16. 

     I was unable to attend due to work schedule however, I had the wife aka Mom report the game to me. So as I was told, the game started off really bad for the U14 team as the U16 team scored the 1st goal about 5 minutes into the game. Then our boys started fighting back and stopped them from scoring until about half time when the U16 team sneaked another one in the net making it 0-2 at the half. The U14 team is playing more of a defense game. 
     
     After the half to even the odds a little the coaches decided to exchange goalie for goalie. This move however didn't help the U14 team as the U16 team extended the lead yet one more time by making a luck shot, leaving the game 0-3 with a win for their ego's if nothing else for the U16 team. This game was more of a challenge game than a game for the books.

West Pasco - Thunder 1-12-13

     After another week of hard practice the U14 Nature Coast Boys Soccer team aka "Lightning" played the U14 West Pasco soccer team aka "Thunder" Much like last weeks game our team kept the sidelines on edge retaining a scoreless first half. The first half of the game was not without shots as the boys where taking their fair share of them, two finding the net just to be called back because of "Off sides" rule. The boys did manage to find the net in the second half again with about ten minutes left to play. With the score 1-0, West Pasco started playing more rough resulting in two of their players receiving the yellow card. They did manage to find the net as well only to have it called back for the same offence (Off sides) leading our boys team to another Victory and another shut out of the year 1-0.

     As of now our team has played 11 matches/games and our record is 10 wins 1 loss 49 Goals total and only allowing 7 Goals against.  At the start of the year the boys had three team goals to achieve. Rangers 1-5-13

     Well after a couple weeks of easy practices our coach wanted to make sure our boys were up to this weeks challenge and ran the boys out this week during practice "I'm going to run them until I see Christmas cookies" and so he did. "I want these boys playing the top of their game even as worn out, dog tired as they are."

     Skipping forward to today's game the boys kept us all on edge for the first 50 minutes of the 60 minute game at the score 0-0.  Then as the coach planned the boys out performed the worn out Rangers and came alive leading the team to a 3-0 VICTORY! 3 goals in the last ten minutes. Sweet victory.

     Next week is another big week as we face West Pasco. These two teams are the top of our division, below us of course. We have had a three way tie for the top spot with these two. The last time we played West Pasco we won 4-0. Check out the standings here 2012 Soccer Standings

Our 2nd round

     Our first game this season was "Spirit Black" The game results was a win with the score 2-0. Today's game was our 2nd round with this team at their home field. I admit this team was well prepared for the match and showed their talent and force in the beginning of the match as they scored the first goal, nothing but net on a well formed play. Because of that goal, the game took a turn as the "Lightning" felt the sting and delivered 2 goals within the next five minutes of play before the half and an additional 3 goals after half for a 5-1 victory! 

Halfway through season

     I am happy to announce that we have played all teams in our division and our standings are 7 wins 1 loss 40 goals scored and 6 goals against in the 8 games we have played.

     Starting Saturday we repeat the schedule playing the teams at the opposite site from the beginning of the year. Our only loss was week 2 against the Rangers and this time we will play them at home.

Fourth and fifth game

     The fourth game I can not comment on as I missed it. So All I can do is report the results here or you can click the link at the right and get the entire stats but I am happy to say the team won 10-2.

    The fifth game was actually a very good game as well. Not much to report here other than the out come which I admit was a surprise as I expected a high score game last week but this weeks 9-1 win was nice and unexpected.

Second & Third Game

     Sorry about the lack of posting. However the second game was a good game although we lost 2-1 it's with great regret that I admit we basically scored all 3 goals. The only 2 points for the other team were an unfortunate rebounds off our own players and not full on deserved shots. 
     The third game was another good game putting down a win 4-0 making that a total of 2 shut outs or 3 if you don't count last weeks goals. Our defense with Austin as Captain is ranked #1 in the division out of 3 games only allowing 2 goals (our own misfortune) as the best team in the division has 4 points against them and happens to be the same team that beat us without shooting a goal.

First Game 10-19-12

Was an exciting game with a score of 2-0 as the Nature Coast Lightning post a win for their season and contribute to one of their team goals to have 5 shut outs this year. Sorry no pics this game. Make sure to click the results on the right to follow the seasons progress.

D-2 Tournament weekend

Not a bad weekend in all but a wet one for sure.  The team played some good teams and gained some play time.  In the long run the team will benefit from this weekend as there is a good chance we will see these teams in the season.  The following pictures where taken at this weekends tournament and the one goal video was from the Citrus United game we won 4-2 and was the 3rd goal in that game.
